Jakebox: CD Packaging Just Got Sexy Again

By: Michael Boucher

Jakebox Samples

You've been through Jewel Cases, DigiPacks, QPacks, Clamshells and SlimPacks. You've gotten creative with some paper jackets, wallets and folders. And just when you thought there was no hope for your next CD or DVD project, enter Jakebox the innovative media packaging developed by Swedish design student Jakob Skarin.

I'm currently working on designing some "low-cost/high-impact" marketing materials for myself and stumbled across this beauty. Of course you can get these printed 4c with a ton of options and looking at the intricacy of the folds and cuts you would think these puppies would cost a heavy dime, but they don't. Pricing on the printed versions are actually quite reasonable.

If you, like me, are on the shoe-string budget for the time being, Jakebox also offers standard stock Jakeboxes in uncoated black and coated white. Unfortunately they are still working on U.S. distribution so expect to pay some shipping costs of you are on this side of the great pond.
